Gradus is a music-practice app that helps musicians plan sessions, track technique and repertoire, capture lesson notes, and review practice history.
Information Gradus handles
Gradus stores information you choose to enter, including your instrument profile, repertoire, practice plans, session history, technique attempts, journal entries, lesson notes, and teacher assignments.
Audio recordings are stored on your device. Gradus does not upload recording files to CloudKit. You can play, share, export, or delete a recording from within the app. Sharing occurs only when you choose a destination through the iOS share sheet.
When you photograph handwritten lesson notes, Apple Vision text recognition processes the image on your device. Gradus keeps the text you review and approve, not the captured photograph.
iCloud sync
When iCloud is available, Gradus uses Apple CloudKit to sync supported practice data through your private iCloud database so it is available on your devices. This can include your profile and settings, repertoire, completed practice sessions, journal entries, technique records and attempts, and completed lesson records. Active session drafts and audio files remain local to the device.
Apple operates iCloud and CloudKit under Apple's terms and privacy policy. Gradus does not use your practice data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Permissions
Gradus requests microphone access only when you choose to record your playing. Gradus requests camera access only when you choose to photograph lesson notes. Notification permission is used for time-sensitive block completion alerts. You can change these permissions in iOS Settings.
Data retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it in Gradus, clear the app's data, or remove the app. When you delete supported synced records, Gradus sends corresponding deletion updates to your private CloudKit database. Apple may retain iCloud data or backups according to its own policies.
Gradus provides controls for deleting individual practice sessions, lesson records, journal entries, repertoire, technique attempts, and local recordings. You can also clear practice history, export supported practice data, or manage the app's iCloud data through Apple's iCloud settings.
For step-by-step help, see Data, export, and deletion.
Tracking and analytics
The current version of Gradus does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change when Gradus adds or changes features. The published policy will show its effective date. Material changes will be reflected here before the relevant app version is released.
